GASBON in Tokyo

GASBON took part in EASTEAST_TOKYO 2025, an art fair held at the Science Museum in Tokyo. Presenting as tra-bon, we introduced "art instructions" — a format that moves beyond the frame of an art display, inviting visitors to use their own hands and engage with a question.

Earlier, in September 2025, tra-bon also presented work at "NEW PLATFORM – Alternative ASIA –" held at Art Center NEW.

About tra-bon

tra-bon is a platform for small undertakings around art, launched jointly by the creative collective "tra-" and "GASBON" of GAS AS INTERFACE CO., LTD.

Beginning with a question, then dialogue, making, practice, experience — and finding a question once again. As a community open to anyone, tra-bon nurtures this cycle through art, developing programs in schools, companies, museums and local communities.

What we hold dear is the stance and the vantage point from which one faces art.

An encounter with a work does not hand us an answer right away. Yet in the act of quietly placing another's question inside ourselves, we sometimes find another "space" deep within. When dialogue with others is layered onto that space — that margin — unknown experiences and thoughts begin to sprout. tra-bon aims to create activities and places where such time for inquiry can be shared, quietly and joyfully.

About tra-

tra- is a practice led by artist Hiroko Kikuchi, with over twenty years of experience in project design through art and culture, and a global network.

Through partnerships with private companies, government bodies, museums, schools and art festivals, tra- provides content and frameworks — learning programs, community building, talent development — that put art and culture to work as a literacy, for children and youth through to students and adults.

"tra" — "art" reversed — also carries, from its Latin roots, the sense of crossing over and transforming, as in translation and transition. By adding a hyphen, we express a stance and a will that begins from co-creation and values incompleteness and process.
